What if someone filed charges on someone and doesnt show up to court?

hey, i know someone who pressed charges on this boy who had a fight with his girlfriend. and they charged him with battery. the boy and girl are now back together and the person who pressed the charges never dropped them. so, what if the person who filed the charges on the boy for hitting his girlfriend doesnt show up to court..? then what ?
