Question about conservation of linear momentum during a projectile motion.?

assuming no wind resistance, then both the guy and the heavy mass will continue on the same path. he won't actually "drop" the mass, he'll simply let go of it, and it'll just kinda cruise along with him until they hit the ground at the same spot.
