Plese advise seniors,i need your advise?

my mother has dementia and has been losing a lot of her jewelry. i know she thinks i'm stealing it. one earring here another there..grandmas engagement ring etc. when my father died..my mother placed his wedding ring on a gold chain..the other day,i found the ring and chain on the ground next to her auto..i told her i was going to wear the chain and ring although i feel uncomfortable..should i feel creepy about wearing my fathers wedding ring?
